If shopping at the market doesn't satisfy all your needs, many small supermarkets (mini supers) are scattered throughout town. The few listed here are the ones most frequented by visitors to Hidalgo. La Mano de Dios, located downtown, has the largest overall selection of goods. Carniceria la Mexicana, near the Tuesday market, specializes in meats and incidentally sells the best flour tortillas in town. El Aguaje and the nearby 1er de Julio (whose proprietor speaks excellent English) are the closest mini supers to the Potrero. Your prescription and hygienic needs can be met at various pharmacies located throughout Hidalgo. Particularly convenient is Farmacía Susy, located near the Tuesday market. Hardware stores, an optician, veterinary clinic, post office, ice cream shops, road-side tacos, grilled chicken and corn all make a part of Hidalgo's bustling shopping scene.
