The High Peaks
Mexicaneering.
The high peaks in the region are utterly trail-less, but for a truly wild experience, the very hardy bushwhacker can find scramble routes to all the summits, though the sheer length of such rambles combined with the preponderance of cactus, spiny agave, and loose rock means that very few indeed ever set foot on these high points. These few however are rewarded by a view that will not be soon forgotten, for these peaks stand well separated from their neighbors, towering to heights of up to two kilometres above the surrounding plains and hills, and often sporting vertical walls many hundreds of meters tall. Standing upon one of these giants, one has the perspective normally enjoyed only by the raptors that sail the surrounding air currents, and the pain of a hundred perforations on one's bloodied limbs is forgotten for a few euphoric moments.
