Market
Strolling through the market

.There are two bustling markets in Hidalgo, on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Please refer to city map for exact locations. Since the town of Hidalgo is about an hour's walk from RCG, it might be nice to get a group together to pile into a cab. Usually if you start out on the walk to town, locals or other climbers will pick you up and give you a lift.

Luis "the cheese guy". He makes the best cheese in town and sells it on Tuesdays.

There is an abundance of fresh and cheap vegetables and fruits sold at various stalls. Look around to find the best deal and the freshest produce. At the Tuesday market you can find Luis and his famous cheese. Luis is a wonderful man who speaks various languages. Roasted chicken (pollo asado), roasted or boiled corn smothered in mayo, cheese and chilli powder, freshly made ice cream and freshly cut up fruit and fruit drinks are specialties to try. The market offers many great culinary experiences and exposure to the local culture. You can also find various herbal remedies for your joints, stomach and overall well-being. If you need a cheap pair of shorts, T-shirts or saucy Mexican style clothes, look around at the various bazaar like stalls. If nothing else, the market is great for people watching! Enjoy.
