| La Huasteca
is located in the city of Santa Catarina. To get there you will have
to drive through the city of Monterrey (some huevos required).
The map shows you an alternative approach from the north, but do not
attempt this during the middle of the day - there is way too much
truck traffic. To get through Monterrey without getting lost, proceed
as follows. Take Hwy 53 into town. Follow Av. Universidad south, then
veer right toward Av. M. Barragan (signs toward downtown). Near the
University Campus, follow signs toward Av. Gonzalitos. This wide avenue
will take you south past downtown Monterrey and over the Rio Santa
Catarina. Immediately after the river go west on Av. I. Morones Prieto.
This multi-lane street will take you directly into the Huasteca canyon.
A kiosk sits at the entrance to the canyon, pay 11 pesos here for
entry. Use the detail map to find the
individual areas within the canyon. Las Cazuelas will be on your left
almost immediately upon entering the park. |
