Arriving by Bus

Laredo, TX is a border town conveniently served by Greyhound. From the Laredo bus station (USA) take the hour bus ride to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico for $7 US. There are ATM machines at both bus stations. The bus will stop at a government building where you can work out you visa papers. This bus service only goes on demand. From the Nuevo Laredo bus station catch the "Futura" bus for around 168 pesos to Monterrey bus station. The trip to Monterrey will take around 2 hours and you might even get to watch a movie in Spanish. When at the bus station in Monterrey look for the bus labelled "Mina" which will cost 19 pesos to Hidalgo. (Be careful not to board a bus for "Sabinas Hidalgo", an altogether different town - with no climbing!) This trip will take about 1 hour if you take the direct bus, if not, it will take much longer. Once in Hidalgo, across the street from the bus station you can get a taxi for around 80 pesos. They will take you right to Rancho Cerro Gordo.

A Monterrey-bound bus leaves Hidalgo. Service is frequent.
